I've been using Illustrator 10 for a while and then upgraded to CS. There was one option that i didn't realize was missing until now. How come I don't get the option to save my illustrator file in older versions of CS like 10 or 8. I remember version 10 giving me that option but not my CS. I want to be able to import some of my vectors to Swift3D but it only accepts older versions of Illustrator; not version CS.
Is there something wrong with my version or do I have something checked in my preferences or something that I don't know about?

Hi there...
Let me explain to you how to save your work as an Illustrator vX.0 file, step by step:
1.- File -> Export.
2.- Choose the file type "Illustrator Legacy (*.AI)".
3.- There you can choose to save your work as Illustrator 10, 9, 8 or 3.
That is all. I hope that helps.

I just bought Illustrator CS2 12.0.1 and am having the same problem "Cannot save to an older version" - or don't know how, :> I went to 'export' and under 'file type' there is no 'Illustrator Legacy' choice. I need to save certain files to version 10 for import into Corel Draw.

In CS2 Choose Save As... and save in AI format. You'll get another dialog box after you click OK called Illustrator Options. The top dropdown box has an option called Version... and in there you can choose Legacy file types.
I got confused as well in CS2 because it wasn't in the Export option

| I have the same problem trying to save an .eps file. However, when I export the file, it automatically recognizes it as a .bmp file. The drop-down menu for format doesn't give me the option of saving it as an .ai file.
