I have AI cs and I am having a problem with drop shadowed text (and objects) creating a "pale", washed out box, or overlay, onto the artwork behind it (only visible when I print, but it is not a printer problem). I've messed with doubling the text and blurring the bottom text to "manually" do a drop shadow, and I've adjusted the flattening settings just in case but to no avail.
Has anyone seen this and know of a fix or shortcut to avoid this i'd be very stoked as my deadline for this project is rapidly advancing!
Thanks,
Haole

| Export as a Illustrator Legacy 8 EPS file, click on compatible gradient mesh printing on save options. Close file and reopen Illustrator 8 file. Check off compatible gradient and mesh printing when you print. Yer done.

Hey! I just joined and was reading your reply about the shadow box behind text with a drop shadow. I'm having the same problem only I'm in AI 10. Whenever I apply a drop shadow effect to text, it prints out with a light bounding box around the text. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Already tried that, but you know, I only converted to outline AFTER I applied the drop shadow effect. I'm going to convert to outline first and then apply the drop shadow. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for jogging my brain!

| Tried it but it still didn't work. I'm having a heck of time with this. No matter what I do I keep getting that lighter shaded box around the text with drop shadow only. Still hoping that someone out there has the magic answer! K

I'm wokring in AI 10. I don't think I can export to a Legacy 8 EPS. Anyway, I finally figured it out. My background color was a pantone color and my text was another pantone color. As soon as I converted both to CMYK the shdow box went away. Only draw back was that the color changed slightly and I had to then tweak the colors.
Thanks for your suggetions.

This solution from Adobe worked perfectly for me.
