I am an Illustrator beginner and although I think I understand the difference between RGB/CMYK files, and also the various files types (ie jpeg, tiff, eps, etc), and how/where they should be used, I seem to be having difficulty saving (or exporting) files (in this case a logo) for use in other applications.
Even when I export a file as an RGB Jpeg it seems to be pixellated when 'placed' in InDesign and Word.
Why is this? Is there something I should be doing to prepare my artwork before I save/export it?
Or is there something I need to be doing during the saving/exporting of the file?
JPEG is a flattened rasterized format. It's better to save it as an EPS or AI file since those are vector formats. Vector is based on mathimatical equations to represent the image rather than raster graphics which are pixels.
So if you scale a vector it will still preserve it's resolution. Vector format is ideal for logos.
