Please help!  I have recently installed my faithful copy of Adobe Photodeluxe 2 on a new PC with Windows XP Pro.  Each time I try to open the program I receive the message:

"Not enough RAM".

This is ridiculous as there is 1 gb RAM in this machine and I have hardly anything on it yet.  Does anybody know why I am unable to run this software?

Update...solution found!  Follow these instructions.  It worked for me...

Go to Control Panel > System
Select the advanced tab. Go to Performance section and select Settings.
Select the advanced tab, again. Go to the Virtual Memory section and select Change.
Select Custom Settings.
Change Initial Setting to 4000MB and Max to 4095 MB. Hit set.
Close out the programs and restart.

Wait.... your startup disk should be the last drive photoshop uses.
otherwise your os could be writing at the same time photoshop needs to, causing photoshop not to work correctly. i think it explains this in the manual.
if you don't have more than one hard drive, then you should partition your drive into two.

d-frag, i think your problem is you have too much ram assigned to photoshop. drop it down to about 50% or so then it should work fine. :)

I am unable to provide you with any help as I am also looking for help as it relates to Adobe PhotoDeluxe home edition 4.0. I received this software along with Adobe PhotoShop 5.0 LE when I purchased my Epson Scanner. It seem to me that the programs were running fine with my Win XP Home operating system and just recently both programs stopped working. I don't know if it happened when I upgraded to SP 2 for Win XP Home or when I installed a new Epson printer. I deleted both programs from the computer and attempted to install them from their original disks but was unable to. I had to start windows in safe  mode and was finally able to reinstall the software but I still have the same problem as before. When I double click on the PhotoDeluxe icon it goes to the first screen but then hangs and does nothing. Task manager indicates that it is not responding. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it working again or is it something to do with Windows XP as everything I have read does not indicate that this software is for windows XP.

Thanks

Ron

The best thing to do is either visit the Adobe forum technical support or buy some cheap ram.  The program might need a certain amount of "free memory" inorder for it to function.

I have plenty of RAM. 1GB. It is interesting that the program will run in winxp safe mode but when  I switch to regular it will not respond. I have sent an email to Adobe to see if they can help.

I was able to use my Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 on my computer.  For some reason I
had to reinstall it and now it gives me this message
"The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications"
I don't know what this even means. I haven't changed anything on my computer (Windows XP). I could just cry. I loved this program. Now I have a CD I paid for and can't even use!

My photoshop Deluxe has the same problem, worked fine with 512mb of memory, but when i upgraded to 1gig or more, it would come up with an error saying not enough ram, ive done what you describe, changing the virutal memory to 4000mb and 4094mb the clickin set.. this has sorted it out, it works fine now,,, thanks. http://www.software-bargains.co.uk

If your having the same problems, with any version of photoshop, do this Go to Control Panel > System
Select the advanced tab. Go to Performance section and select Settings.
Select the advanced tab, again. Go to the Virtual Memory section and select Change.
Select Custom Settings.
Change Initial Setting to 4000MB and Max to 4095 MB. Hit set.
Close out the programs and restart.  and now it will be working again.

The response in this thread (increasing RAM to 4000/4095) worked a treat and I got ADOBE PD2 passed the RAM error stage- thanks.

I have another problem on my XPPRO PC:
when Adobe is loading and just before all menus appear I get a dialog box: COULD NOT IMPORT THE CLIPBOARD BECAUSE ADOBE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE FILE EXTENSION.

This happened on a previous PC but sometimes rebooting corrected it - does anyone have any ideas what this problem is?

Thanks
Brian
