It actually takes a lot and I really do mean a LOT of time. I have been creating football manager game called Cura Manager. (http://www.curamanager.com if you want to try it out) for three years on my own, and still takes a lot of work to get it to the point where I want it to be. I heavily underestimated the workload when I started, so will probably everyone else.
So really the best way to start is to get a commited and skilled team.

Nice football manager game.
Back to the thread creator....
I myself have knowledge, skills and different capabilitys with php and mysql and yes indeed it does take a lot of time to create a text based game.
Although if you don't have the skills, you could visit a company which specilises in this aspect of scripting.

Yes it does take a VERY lond time and im making one ive finnaly made the code YAY.

Cpanel,PHPmyAdmin,FTP,FTP Info is it anyone of those
