Review:
When DOS was still the king, almost every Windows program had "for Windows" next to its name, but nowadays DOS is long gone, and Windows is the only consumer operating system standing, so there is no more need for separating DOS and Windows products. Nevertheless after all those years, PKWare continues the naming convention probably because it was the originator of the Zip format, and it still sells the DOS version of PKZip. Although PKZip was the undisputed leader among DOS archivers, WinZip has been holding the leadership title for Windows for quite some time.
PKZip for Windows (PKZipWin) had had an inferior interface in comparison to WinZip until PKWare finally decided to completely redesign the look and feel of the program in version 4.0, and the result was a much better interface with multiple panes, a tabbed archive file window, and attractive icons. Although the interface of PKZipWin is arguably better than that of WinZip, unfortunately it still has some rough edges such as the inability of automatically installing a program in an archive by clicking on SETUP.EXE (you need to go through Extract > Install).
