You may know HTML, and you may even be an expert but everyone needs a quick reference guide every once in a while. HTML 4.0 Reference from the Web Design Group (WDG) is a concise, well-organized HTML reference every web designer must have a copy on his/her hard disk.

In HTML 4.0 Reference, each and every HTML tag and belonging attributes are explained. Examples are provided for all major tags, and links to related W3C pages are given. The reference comes in various formats including help files for Mac/PC, and compressed HTML files in addition to the browsable on-line version. If you are new to HTML, as the "reference" part in the name implies, the WDG HTML 4.0 Reference is not intended to teach you HTML, but if you want to learn HTML "the hard way", you can't find anything better than this since it is comprehensive yet concise.
