Review:
Corel Photo-Paint is a feature-rich and easy-to-use image-editing software. Photo-Paint has long had a streamlined interface composed of one horizontal and one vertical toolbar, which was recently adopted by its number one rival Photoshop. Photo-Paint uses a different terminology as compared to Photoshop though: layers are called objects, filters are called effects, and finally adjustment layers are called lenses. The program is compatible with 3rd party Adobe Photoshop plug-ins, but its' built-in effects are not as robust as Photoshop's filters, and effect previews are slow. The range of pressure-sensitive natural media tools offered seem to be impressive at first glance however they are far from being useful, use Corel Painter instead. On the other hand Photo-Paint excels in text-handling: text remain editable even after transformations, and best of all you can attach text to paths.
A lot of cool features that you won't find in Adobe Photoshop. Excellent archive of clip art that can be used for your artwork, and edit/ use effects on.
The interface is quite bloated, and could cause a newbie to not bother using. Needs a bit more "user friendly" touch to it.
