Review:
Corel Painter is an extremely powerful graphics tool that lets you use a rich arsenal of traditional painting tools including pencils, pastels, charcoal, watercolor, oil paint, and airbrush in the digital medium. In addition to its core natural media functionality, Painter also has vector tools and animation capabilities. Until version 6, Painter's idiosyncratic interface and crude layer support (so called floaters) kept many Adobe Photoshop users away, which is sad because Photoshop is not the best tool for digital paintings. Painter 6 introduced industry standard layers, a streamlined interface, and a faster, more responsive brush engine.
Note: Painter was originally created by Fractal Design that later merged with MetaCreations. MetaCreations as we know it doesn't exist anymore, and Painter is now owned by Corel.
