Review:
WinRAR is the official Windows version of the original RAR archiver, a highly efficient, specialized archiving utility. RAR can give better compression ratios especially for executable files and a large number of small, similar files. It also implements a special multimedia compression algorithm. Although the interface of WinRAR is not as polished as WinZip, we liked its treatment of archives as regular folders. You can freely navigate on your hard disk inside WinRAR, and when you click on a RAR archive (either self extracting or not), its contents will be displayed just like a normal folder. You can then drag and drop or view individual files as if they really exist on your hard disk. WinRAR can manage CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, and UUE archive formats, and also supports multi-volume archives, encryption, and ANSI comments.
I have been using WinRar since it 1st appeared and I believe it is a more complete compression Util than any other on the market. It handles files very well and it compresses much better than its major rival WinZip. And the new feature "Test archived files after compression" is excellent, it helps you know if a corrupted zip or rar has been created! I suggest it to all that are looking for a serious compression tool!
