Review:
WinZip has been around since 1991 (this is even before Windows 3.1), and it is a dominant player in the archiver market today. There are two interface choices in WinZip. You can either use the "classic" interface to unleash the full power of the program, or go with the WinZip Wizard that guides you through a few dialog boxes to achieve basic tasks. WinZip seamlessly integrates with My Computer and Windows Explorer, and supports archive formats other than ZIP as well. The supported formats include TAR, gzip, UUencode, XXencode, BinHex, MIME, ARJ, LZH, and ARC (the last three require external programs). Installing software stored in ZIP files is a snap. Just click on SETUP.EXE, and WinZip will automatically extract the archive to a temporary directory and run the setup program. WinZIP can also utilize external anti-virus programs to check for viruses inside archives. Overall, you can't go wrong with WinZip; it is a powerful and trustworthy archiver that has become synonymous with the Zip format.
