Review:
IrfanView is a compact, easy-to-use image viewer and editor, which is updated very frequently. It supports dozens of image and movie formats, and can quickly convert image files into different formats. You can choose to apply basic image editing effects such as crop, resize or sharpen to images that will be converted. In fact most people will use the batch conversion feature for quickly creating thumbnails. Other features of IrfanView include image and movie slideshows and screen capture. The interface is quite simple, and most of the features can be accessed with a single key stroke. You can find plenty of plug-ins on the IrfanView web site to add support for even more file formats.
A simple, retro-akin interface is introduced with IrfanView, a great freeware alternative to PSP, although, not quite as complex. A limited amount of effects may prove dissapointing to the experienced graphic designer, but reasonable to the amateur or one who doesn't deal with graphics as an expertise.
Where IrfanView really dissapointed me was where the automatic window resize took place. Some may call it convenient, but not me. I find it annoying, and it is a distraction to work with.
