Learn how to use the Transform Each feature to create complex geometric shapes complete with gradients.
Select the Star tool () by pressing L a few times until you see its icon appear in the tools palette. Now click on the work area to specify the drawing options. You can see the settings I used below.
Create a gradient of your choice in the gradient palette. You can see the gradient I used below. Select the Gradient tool () by pressing G. Make sure the gradient type is linear. Then select the star and fill it with the gradient. Use whatever direction and distance you would like.
Select Object > Transform > Transform Each. Transform each allows us to scale, move, and rotate an object all at the same time. We will just scale down our star a bit and rotate it 15 degrees, and leave the movement option untouched. After you set your options click on the Copy button to see the new transformed object.
Now, press Ctrl+D (Transform Again) to repeat the transformation, and continue to press these keys until you are pleased with the effect. As you see it is quite easy to create interesting geometrical shapes with Transform Each. Just play with the initial object or object group, the gradient, and the options in the Transform Each dialog box, and see what you will get.
