Center the five joined rectangles over the white crescent shape. Select both the rectangles and the crescent shape.
From the Arrange pull down menu, select Combine Shapes > Subtract Shapes.
The rectangles remove their joined shape from the crescent shape and then remove themselves.
Name and save your drawing and take a short eye break.
Select the circle (that we set to the left side of the head) with the Bevel Tool. Drag towards the center to apply an Inside Bevel.
From the Bevel Types drop down list on the Infobar, select Ruffle Frame 1.
From the Slider Types drop down list, select Size. Change the setting to 14pix.
Using the Shape Editor Tool (or the Pen Tool) create a vertical line.
Center the line over the beveled shape.
From the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes > Slice Shapes. The circle is now two half circles which we will use for ears.
TIP: To constrain a line drawn with the Shape Editor Tool to a vertical or horizontal direction, click and drag the Shape Editor Tool. Hold down the Ctrl key after you begin to drag. The line will constrain to horizontal, vertical, or a few select angles depending upon the direction you drag.
Place the ears on either side of the head.
Select the Bevel Tool then click the large circle to select it.
Drag any of the red control arrows to the center until the outline of the circle disappears.
From the drop down list of Bevel Types, select Rounded. You can also set the size to 100pix if you want, by selecting Size from the Sliders drop down list and entering the 100 in the text entry box, or by dragging the slider until it reads 100pix.
