Our comments: Well-done traditional Mac style black & white icons and corresponding menu items rendered in a nice pixel font make up the menu of this portfolio site. Simple and very easy-to-use. Wonderful artwork and graphic designs inside.
Clean, neat, tidy. Good use of white space. May not suit all people, but it works over all with what the designer was going for. Great use of pixel text and not excessive use of rollovers [nice touch].
Over all a great site, and most importantly, the CONTENT is there, and is good. Nice to visit again and again.
I have to admit, this is a great site! And when I mean a great site, I mean that it is full of great content, the layout is totally balanced and it is a proper “site”, no heavy graphics, perfect download times and totally user friendly. Maybe the tech level used is not that impressive, but a site really shouldn’t be rated by that. Clients never know what “tech level” means, they don’t mind, they only care about overall presentation and usability, so why should us “tech dudes” care about tech level!!! Andy Runton in my opinion is a natural talent in design and art. I enjoy viewing his work. The only thing I can say is “Bravo!!!”.
Andy Runton has stretched his neck out to create such a beautiful portfolio. The minimalistic design is popular but it is also hard to create such a design that doesn't become so minimal that it is simply too boring for the viewer to remain browsing for more than 2-3 minutes. Although I feel the main graphic (owl writing in book) doesn't quite suit the design and feel of the site. I believe that a black and white illustration would have given the site a better look. The site consists of very delicate frames and pixel graphics. The pixel font doesn't appear very strenuous to read and stands out easily, aided by the great graphics which illustrate the category. The artwork and designs are very professional and I believe Runton has a very special talent, and he is right to share it in such an attractive portfolio.
