Our comments: A little conservative in terms of color and typography yet an eclectic mixture of web design technologies is liberally used through the site. Design highlights include color coded sections, all-caps headlines and menu captions compatible with the image of a big steel fabrication shop, and of course a few tiny rivets for ambience.
I think one of the great strengths of this site is how it integrates several web technologies into a single cohesive presentation. I really like the fact that although the site uses Flash, each "page" is its own page, which has its own URL, which preserves the web navigation model and allows the back button to be used according to user expectations.
The design is very clean and straightforward, and I didn't experience any problems in terms of understanding where I was or where I wanted to go -- with the exception of the "Projects" navigation tab -- on the front page, since this is the same color as the content below it, it looks like we are already in the Projects view.
Some minor comments/suggestions -- for the current projects on the front page, I think a fading or slow scrolling implementation might work a little better than the disappearing and reappearing content -- the flicker starts to get distracting after awhile. Many online news websites have this kind of implementation for reference. Along the same lines, in the facilities area, the glowing picture gets very distracting as well... I don't personally mind that it glows, maybe just not so fast.
Finally, there are a lot of fonts used in this site... in my opinion 2 or 3 too many, for consistency's sake.
Other than those minor points though, I really did enjoy the site, and learned a thing or two about welding too! :)
