Designer's words: I wanted a light fun feeling imitiating designs on some fabrics of the 50's with wild colors and intersecting lines. Most of my work inside the site is inspired by period fabrics and real wallpapers.
Our comments: Delightful retro design featuring highly original oblique table borders that are not only transparent but also used in two different orientations (mirror images of each other to be exact) as a twist. In terms of color, using a green background with orange and blue stripes on it is unconventional to say the least; font selection is excellent as in Jen's other designs. High quality desktop patterns inside.
I am stunned. I don't normally like the "retro" look, but this site is beautifully done. And yes, I downloaded some of the patterns :) Bookmarked it, too...I'll be back!
I haven't been able to escape this design for several days. I keep bouncing back to admire it. The retro look never really captured me until looking at this design. Now what happens? My own site gets a complete redesign inspired by Jen's work.
The only minor nit I would pick is that the menu looks slightly choppy under IE 6 for Windows. Still, I've seen (and made) much worse!
It shows Jen's (the designer) distinct style in using retro images that brings a refreshing mood... something cute to look at after seeing a bunch of highly detailed graphics.
