I think this site is trying to be coherent with a mood. It is casual but is also inviting the visitors to share a point of view. and that's always something deep and worthy.
Graphics are just amaizingly beautiful, and I think the color combination is perfect, again, with the mood.
Perhaps the color combination is the reason why somebody said that it looks like 2advanced, but I think, like many others, that it has nothing to do with it.
Ok, navigation in lite version is not quite good, but we cannot think that this site's visitors are stupid. I think, sometimes, it's cool when somebody challenge our "professional visitor's" skills.
And, the flash version.... is incredible. What's the point in saying that flash is the devil? I think this site shows us how subtile could flash be... if we try. And I don't agree about the sound, either... the sound is peaceful, and it's coherent, again, with the mood of the entire site.
I fully agree with Dima.
For the lite version, the design style is "somewhat" messy, but it is fresh and it seems to be a wanted effect. I can't find any difficulties in this version and moreover, NO FLASH is used (Maybe Anenga was watching many websites at the same time...).
I liked the use of similar but different design styles in the two version.
The Flash version is delicate and clean and considering that it is his first experience...
...anyway, sounds are not as good as the rest.
From a technical standpoint, ASP (right click-properties shows ASP technology), Flash, Javascript are used. Silvestro affirms in the about section that XML is used to describe collections for "ease of update". If so, update can be done using just XML and image files, once for both versions.
I know how much work is needed to provide a clean design while managing a lot of contents and so I can just say: nice work!
