Designer's words: I designed and coded my personal site as a testing ground for keeping abreast of and trying out new web development techniques. The site is built with an XML backend and uses XSLT to produce HTML dynamically. Backend integration with Blogger powers the weblog part of the site, and a custom-built photo management tool powers the photography section. The DHTML-heavy site includes a registration system and an experimental photo magnifying glass interface. Glish.com has become a resource for fellow web developers who wish to keep up with DHTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, and other web topics.
Our comments: glish.com is the weblog of Eric Costello, a web developer who has a passion for standards-compliant pure CSS layouts and is one of the maintainers of The 5k. Although Costello says he is not a visual designer, the site's design is clean and highly usable, and unlike mostly text-only weblogs out there there are even some nice flower pictures on the top that give life to the design. The zoom effect you will see when you click on the pictures is impressive to say the least. Also, the use of real-time tabs is a nice diversion from your average weblog site design.
