Our comments: halfproject is the brainchild of three gifted artists from Philippines, and its mission is "to inspire the local and foreign design scene and promote collaboration and communication". The whole halfproject web site is a work of art: On many web sites, interface is predominant over artwork, but here, it is exactly the opposite: all elements of user interaction seem to be lost in the jungle of gorgeous illustrations. However you can easily find your way out since the interface is consistent: there are always a couple of select boxes and inline frames on almost every page. The background illustrations were almost always drawn from below or above eye level to give a dramatic feel to the depicted scenes. Although the illustrations are gigantic (around 1000x1000 pixels), they all are optimized for a 800-pixel wide screen; higher resolutions reveal complementary details.
Very good site - is it me using a shared ADSL internet connection or is it slow to load? Anyway, good use of Flash. Well, I can't say my site is better.
Put the likes of Surfstation, Design is Kinky, Kaliber and these fellas in a cagefight, and our Filipine friends would win hands down, with K10K as runner-up. Original, humorous, stimulating (are you taking notes Surfstation, DIK?) and gorgeous, without losing sight of usability.
Holder of the Championbelt, still undefeated...Halfproject!
Halfproject has been recognized as a pioneer website for it has been able to inspire other Filipino webdesigners to create new unique themes and designs. Their style can totally infect minds to become more creative and unique - such awesome ideas.
Nice designs... Also it's very original. Contents are also very satisfactory. This site is truly a great design site. Actually why not make it a design portal of the Philippines.
halfproject rocks ! very nice and original illustrations + color. This site is so popular not only in the Philippines but all over the world. Truly one of the sites Filipinos can be proud of.
Magnificent artwork presentations, but replete with mystery meat navigation from the start. Falling victim of a static font size in the text boxes, not only does the site prove to be hard to read, you can't do anything about it. The features it boasts, you have no clue what they're about. The site forces you to stumble through links, to discover what sections of the website you want to visit. If you go enough, you'll eventually love it. But, you're going to have to wander a bit first.
