Designer's words:
Expidant's Interactive Design team began by developing a new visual identity system for lifestarts.com. This included a new logo, color scheme, and typography development. Expidant developed lifestarts.com's identity and visual characteristics to be applicable to both online and offline media uses.

Color selection was intended to be distinct and make it easier for users to distinguish different areas of the site. Photography for lifestarts.com needed to reflect the active and vibrant characteristics of healthy living.

Expidant focused heavily on the overall usability of the lifestarts.com site. Based on focus group research, Expidant understood the unique needs of the target audience. One of the most innovative features developed was the ability for users to alter to size of the text instantly across the entire site.

Our comments:
A triumph of web design and usability, lifestarts.com is a health and wellness portal backed by Conseco Health. It is clear that a lot of time and energy went into creating a highly usable yet visually appealing web site that can make Jakob Nielsen eat his words (see End of Web Design).

Perhaps, the most impressive aspect of the design is the splendid use of typography and color. Double spaced and tinted slightly with blue, Verdana looks impressively legible on the beige background. Compatible with the research findings, page contents are concise and to the point for the web audience who prefers skimming over reading. Finally, relevant photography completes the experience.
