Our comments: Uses a futuristic monochrome interface supported with impressive urban imagery shot from angles suggesting importance. Incredibly detailed, slick transitions accompanied with space-age sound effects set the mood. Small, all-caps body type is hard to read though. 100% Flash.
I saw this web about half a year ago. And still, it is the BEST site that I see. It's to bad that this site now is offline. I really want to see it again. Hope 2Advanced Studio hear me !!!
Hello people. I'm new here and this is my first review.
Ever since I first layed my eyes on 2Advanced.com I was stunned. And why shouldn't one be. It was totally new and unprecedented. Still today, I'm amazed by the wonderfull Flash effects. I have to admit, I tried to copy (parts) of it. Well just the bitmap part, the Flash is way out of my league. It must be nice to be able to concentrate on Flash as much as Eric Jordan. I'm "just a student" not even in graphics (I should've, it's my passion)and I design sites just for the hack of it and I'm just about to start a little "design company". Of course there are a couple of cons to 2Advanced, but these have all been mentioned and are valid points. If people like to see me shameless rip off of 2Advanced, take a look here: (it was just for the fun of it, to try and make something similar): Ownage Design Studios P.S. Yes that is the name of my design "company" the similarity in that has nothing to do with 2A at all.
Ok, who really cares who ripped off who or not? When someone comes up to you and asks you to make a web site, they're not going to care if you ripped off someone else's design. What works is what sells, and so far 2advanced is certainly working better than its competitors, regardless of design originality or whatever because of its ever-increasing press attention. And it does that by masking itself not as an art/"design" site but as a business site. It might not be better or more original artistically, but I'm pretty sure most people will agree that it's more professional than most of the other designers out there. Companies see GMunk as just another art site, while 2advanced is viewed as a real, serious business.
That's just my opinion. I'm open to comments; e-mail me if you disagree and tell me why; otherwise no one will ever understand your opinion.
Ah! originality is a very overestimated value in a world that has seen everything (or, at least, in a world that thinks so).
Anyhow, we must recognize this site rocks in many ways. come on, the graphics are outstanding, the way Jordan uses flash tech is almost perfect.
But... what's true is that the site is a torture to read. Nothing more annoying than those little caps... looks cool, but at the end it makes the site remain in the graphics... I canīt imagine somebody, even if he/she is really interested, goin' all the way through the text...
What are we talking here? Well, the coolest design in the world is not always the best. That's a designer's law... and Jordan knows it pretty well. I think he was more interested about causing a web-designers-shock. And that's mission acomplished.
This is not yet a web standar, I think. This is the future, and as any future, it is subject to get better.
trendsetting design, which outstanding flasheffects hardly disguise the flaws in the design. Excellent to impress the webdesigncommunity (which ofcourse consists largely of fairly talentless college students with no real knowledge of design), but poorly communicating to its propects (who pay the bills). Depressing & introvert image, poor usability and only for high-end users. Visually appealing, but lacks in execution and addressing the target audience.
Very nice design, but 2advanced are maybe a little bit too advanced when it comes to usability. The site is actually pretty worthless in regards to readability and navigation. The layout and graphics are keeping the site alive.
I truly admire the work from the 2advanced studios. This is one of my main inspirations when I begin to work on projects. One of the best that I have seen period.
2advanced is obviously one of the best design studios in the world. I don't buy any of the nonsense about 2advanced copying off of others, and simply looking at their portfolio reflects the quality of their work. I run a small design house of my own, and am quite jealous of 2advanced, as I am sure most of the people negatively rating them are.
By the way, v.4 is not too great. You can access v.3 still at http://www.2advanced.com/archive/v3/
. :-D
Its great site, every pixel on the site is thoughtful and gives very good look. Font / Text slightly small but if the targetted audience does not have any problem then its all right.
From the beginning of this site, I was impressed. I have always admired those able to create stunning vector presentations as I myself have little talent in it. I loved the simple addition of the cloud animation on the main page. I also loved how the individual sections have different specific loading screens (that goes with the content!), and different ways of fading content in and out. Downsides to the design are that the fonts are very small and hard to read, as are the previews of their works.
Scores very close to a 10 in terms of aesthetic appearance and interactivity but average in the other aspects of user interface (eg. mutability, usability). Maybe they need to hire a UI specialist. But overall, really good site.
the site sucks, I liked www.2methods.com much better. The use of flash is basic but their portfolio is the best one i have ever seen, 2advanced is making the best portfolio sites. Cant say the same for www.whoswe.com , just check the portfolio and you see.
Web design with Flash is new to me. I can totally appreciate the amount work that must have gone into designing and implementing 2advanced. What do I feel when navigating their site? Inspiration. What's the best aspect of their site? In my opinion, it's their explicit use of modularity or classes with timely function calls to create seamless rollover effects. Quite frankly, I have not seen anything else like this! Have you explored their portfolio? 2advanced is the bomb!
nah, Eric Jordan will be happy to tell you where he snatched the 2advanced look from. Sorry to break your bubble, but though crafty, he is far from original.
I dont like the 2advanced site as well as I did about 3 years ago: but they are doing this since 1998. Eric Jordan from 2advanced was the first of all flash monsters on the web, and he invented that monochrome-blue-techno-fashion style that is very common today and is being ripped off by thousands of designers. They deserve a 10.
PROS: I think it is a great site. The design was new and original, well maybe not now because it catches on. The animations are smooth and ingenious. Gotta love that ambient music.
CONS: The site is focused more towards fancy graphics rather than content and usability. The font is small, and in some cases a strain on the eyes to read. Well, maybe my screen resolution is too high.
I think people rag on 2a because they know they will never be able to produce something so technical and beautiful. It is simply the most amazing looking website, and most animated movement between pages and buttons that i have ever seen. Get a life people, stop ragging on the site because you want to be the rebel and draw attention to yourselves. It blows away anything else on the top 25 and everyone here knows it.
Oh and i can read the site just fine, maybe i have good eyes, but anyhow, it's still the best site i've ever seen, even with the text.
i've been reading some of these reviews and i can't believe anyone would rate this site less than a 10. its perfect in every aspect. i'm reading some of these articles and reviews and one person said it lacks a soul?! reality check dude, its the effin net! it has NO SOUL! we're not making artificial intelligence here. its a damn web page. i also hear about how 2A stole Gmunks design OVER and OVER and OVER again. listen up! gmunk is wack. it's navigation is poor, its way too dark, the fonts are too small, it lacks a purpose, and it has NO CLIENT PORTFOLIO! 2Advanced took a design and did something IMPORTANT with it. Everything about this page has been accounted for. navigation is simple, graphics are outstanding, and its cutting edge. the only reason you can say his design is unoriginal is b/c everyone and their moms are trying to emulate this website. good luck trying b/c once you get to where jordan is at...he blows our mind with some off the wall new ish. don't be a hater. you know this is the best site on the net. gmunk...grow up. come up with a site we can all use and then state your case. until then...take your artistic approach to the net and shove it. 2A is what the internet should be.
I am getting very bored with 'diehard fans/employees/groupies/annoying kids' plugging a particular site. It gets obvious when already twice the old and new 2Adv. site gets a+ marks.

Once this was a trendsetter, but compared to comtemporary sites it is aging.
Apart from that it is hardly original and the quality of some of the graphics leaves something to be desired.
Artistic and complex is really a headache thing when visiting this web site. However, its effort in making it so complex and advance is worth our respect.
Eric Jordan's style and techniques are mimicked throughout webbies everywhere. His command of Actionscript is commendable. Jordan has succeeded in creating "enviroscapes" for the web for some time - dark? It's meant to be - ellusive? He's achieved his goal.
Since his first site's debut, designers have been following his work - this new design leaves a certain amount to be desired - only due to high expectations - we were looking for something a bit "different" than his older look - as this version of his site is simply a more refined look, cleaner, faster & better, showing the evolution of his work. He has established himself a certain style & flair that keeps us coming back for more.
Calling it "hard to read" is putting it nicely ;-) The text is impossible to read under any circumstances and I even went downstairs and got my glasses which I don't normally need in front of my PC. Who started this rave about mini-sized fonts? They're not cool or hip, just a strain for the eyes...
