Nice design, extremely poor navigation and usability.
But then again, if their ultimate goal was to show-off certain design skills, they've succeeded. However, I wouldn't let them develop my e-commerce site though.
Mark Klein the designer / developer of Pixel Industries is quite competent. He is the creator of multiple websites ( not only this one ) with a very strong grasp of precision HTML / DHTML and design detail. His weakness as illustrated by Pixel Industries is his understanding of information display and usability. This web site although admittedly beautiful presents numerous navigational and usability challenges. For the sake of excessive graphical embellishments Mark ignores the key underling user issues that must be addressed at the core of any web site. Again, I respect Mark as a designer ( and have for years ) but I feel it's time he raise's the bar a few notches and start to work out these glaring short comings.
This is a web site design company?! I found more ways -away- from their site, than into it on the front. Not to mention the incredibly tiny type.
Once I got in, I found more mystery meat navigation. The ALT tabs did not prove useful, WWW3 and WWW4? How about you say what they are, if I did not have a graphical interface, I'd be lost.
Entering into the Corporate Web site, I had to maximize my window to see all that was going on, and then the convention for linking was changed! Just when I was expecting to click on circles, they switched how they linked to things. Not to mention all the useless moving things that distracted me from finding actual links.
As a site design company, you would think they would have put more effort in a simple to use, backward compatible, efficient, and usable site. The goal is to attract clients, not to hopelessly confuse them with obscure links and unreadable text.
Ok...so the graphics are good, but they take a long time to load. The scrolling="no
" that was put in some how was annoying, as I stick to 800x600 and I couldn't see the bottom.
