beautiful colors, bold combination
has a unique, fresh, original design
good presentation of portfolio and designer
some lovely artwork
very clean navigation
well balanced between content and graphics
- not all potential of design is used, why not Flash?
- small typography
- loads a bit slow on a standard modem
- only IE5???
- the clickable icons at the bottom work a bit confusing.
- and indeed, why is it built up the way it is now?
e-llumination is a well designed little portfolio site, which does one thing very well, that is to stand out from the grey masses. The unusual color-combination and assembly of designelements make the site very recognisable and provide it with a strong personality. However, it sells short in other departments, already mentioned by others. Afterall, it is rather static and although surprising, after a while one frontpage only loses its appeal. Also it wouldn't kill you to visualise the numerous portfolio works with little thumbnails, since there is nothing to be ashamed of, to say the least.
This is a charming little site.
Surprising combination of graphics, colors and photo, but it works well. It should in my opinion offer more though than just this main page.
understated, subtle or plain boring...? I guess it remains a matter of taste. objectively this is a good design. clearly the creator thought long and hard about it, and orchestrated color, layout, content and images to a good design with character. However,I agree with Monica, it is fairly flat and after the initial pleasant surprise, the frontpage is...uhm dullish.
Apart from that, it lacks any modern day technical wizardary.
Shame, cause some of the art- and clientwork is quite good.
rather good little portfolio offering.
unusual but nice color combination, a good eye for layout and some pretty strong portfolio work. site itself could be more diverse than only a frontpage though.
an example of well-balanced, well-thought design. lovely understated portfolio site, which really hides its graphic treasures, instead of boasting it on the frontpage. technically it is however sooo nineties.
