Designer's words: Brushstrokes® sells realistic recreations of fine oil paintings using a unique, proprietary technology that combines printing techniques with hand-applied highlights. Until the brushstrokesart.com site was developed by Iguana Studios, Inc. in 2000, all sales had been via a series of mail-order catalogues. The strategic objective of the project was to distinguish the e-commerce site from other retailers in the space (such as "art.com"). Using ImagePump™, a Xippix imaging software tool, the site allows users to view extremely high-resolution images over a standard web browser with no plug-in requirement. ImagePump™ facilitates zooming in and out of each piece in the Brushstrokes® collection, allowing users to appreciate the proximity of the canvas image and its texture - without lengthy download times - ensuring a good user experience. Employing ImagePump™ allowed Iguana Studios to develop a way of presenting over 100 different framing options (compositing frames from original high resolution photography) for each of the 250 pieces in the Brushstrokes® collection. The site also allows users to place those images in 5 different rooms of a house, against 19 different color backdrops (there are over 1.9 million combinations).
Our comments: The design of BrushstrokesArt.com, a limited-edition fine-art recreations web site incorporates a beautiful header that changes color from section to section and elegant fonts compatible with the nature of the site. The ability of displaying even the smallest details of paintings with Xippix's ImagePump technology is almost impossible to achieve by traditional means such as catalogs. Besides you can see how a painting will look like inside different frames against a variety of wall background colors.
