Designer's words: The front end to The Head Space Project has 3 totally different designs, that are accessed randomly on each visit. This is version 4 of a site that started as the homepage of a designer and a writer, and has developed into over 1700 pages of design, music, toys, poems, and anything else unique to the web in it's own way. Getting over 100,000 visitors a month, but still keeping completely non-profit (no advertising allowed!). Ths front end acts like an OS (pop-up draggable windows, etc.) to delve into the depths of the strange.
Our comments: The Head-Space Project truly shows what can be done with DHTML if you try hard enough. The design features draggable windows though it isn't compatible with all browsers, complex backgrounds composed of several superimposed images that can be modified on-the-fly by using the "junk modulator", and transparent layers made possible with the oldschool dithering technique (one pixel on, one pixel off and so on).
