Our comments: Tabs are heavily used on the web. Normally each tab, which usually looks identical to the others in shape, is placed side by side on top of the page. But in the case of samash.com, the tabs are used differently. First, they are placed on the side bar not on top of the page. Second, there are two lines of tabs rather than the single one normally used. And third, each tab is different from the others in shape, and responses to mouse-over events through the use of sophisticated multi-part mouse-over images.
The side menu and the body of the page are sandwiched between the header and footer. Random instrument images are superimposed over the crisp header illustration, which is composed of elegant curves, lines and decorative rectangular blocks. The footer part of the design uses a similar illustration as well except a small banner ad is displayed on it. There are a few examples of creative use of table borders on the body part of the design where the actual contents of the site are displayed.
Overall, the design is consistent and creative though choosing frames over tables for the page layout might be questionable.
