Designer's words: The idea of the Olympics being in New York City can be both exciting and overwhelming. We created a site with easy access to relevant information about facilities, events, and transportation. The flash splash page introduces the Digital Pulp-created advertising campaign featuring New York Olympians in familiar scenes around town. In order to spread the word more effectively, we have provided the user with the option to send an e-card with some advertising imagery and information about the site.
Our comments: NYC2012 features one of the most impressive Flash splash screens we have ever seen. It not only incorporates near broadcast quality effects, but also a full-length though low quality soundtrack for all people out there who got bored of repetitive 2-second loops. Each section of the web site is color-coded, and every page has exactly the same dimensions. Frames are used to scroll page contents (reminds kiosk applications).
This site has a nice use of frames, which is quite hard to use these days. The site consists of a lot of information, and is organized. Colors are blue and red, very easy on the eyes for reading a lot of information.
Could use a bigger layout, and maybe more white throughout the design.
